Mark Morfopoulos’s Lease Audits Article Is Published

“Lease Audits: Adding Value in Troubled Times,” Mark Morfopoulos’s newest article, has just been published in the June 2009 edition of Commercial Leasing Law & Strategy. In his article, Mark points out how, by conducting a lease audit, a tenant can keep its costs under control. In these trying economic times, a tenant’s very existence may depend upon its ability to reduce costs by avoiding payment of unjustified pass-through type expenses. Mark addresses critical issues such as verification of proportionate share, looking for items excluded by the lease’s provisions, but improperly billed as part of the landlord’s expenses, and the right to conduct audits in the first place. Mark is an attorney in the Commercial Real Estate Group at Meislik & Meislik and has a special focus in the area of Retail Real Estate Law.
