Meislik & Meislik Attorney Ira Meislik Earns Recognition as a LEED® Accredited Professional

Published: June 28, 2009 | E-Mail

Ira Meislik, managing principal of Meislik & Meislik, a New Jersey law firm, has been designated by the United States Green Building Council as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design LEED® Accredited Professional (LEED®AP). As of the date of his accredidation, there were only eight other New Jersey lawyers holding this distinguished credential.

LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, government agencies throughout the United States increasingly are incorporating LEED guidelines into building codes. As a LEED AP, Mr. Meislik will be a resource to clients, able to provide counsel as to how to meet regulatory green building requirements and, if they choose, how to earn green building certification from the Green Building Council. His accredidation was earned when he demonstrated his thorough understanding of the principles of Green Building design and operation and his comprehensive knowledge of the LEED rating system and process.

Ira Meislik has written and spoken extensively in the areas of real estate, business entity selection, attorney ethics, limited liability entities, and unincorporated business associations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. Mr. Meislik is also chairman of the Ground Leasing Committee of the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Section and is a member of the American, New Jersey, New York, and Essex County Bar Associations, as well as of the International Council of Shopping Centers. He is also a director of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Business Law Section and recently retired from his six year term as a member of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section’s Board of Consultors. Mr. Meislik has also chaired the American Bar Association’s Real Property, Probate and Trust Section’s Joint Committee on Limited Liability Companies.
