Another Major Ground Lease Financing

Meislik & Levavy has just completed yet another securitized financing for a developer client. The $45,000,000.00 loan was secured by a ground lease that underlies a large New York shopping center. Borrowing against a ground lease implicates a significant number of complex state law and bankruptcy issues not seen in fee mortgage transactions. Partner Ira Meislik and associate attorneys Steven Gellerstein and Jamile Drew made up the legal team that handled the entire transaction including restructuring two borrowing entities, augmenting the ground lease for increased financeablity, negotiating the loan documents, and defeasing an existing loan. Eighth Annual Real Estate and Business Law Review

For the eighth year in a row, attorneys from Meislik & Levavy presented their annual review of New Jersey court decisions affecting business law and real property law. On Tuesday, February 22, Ira Meislik, Bardin Levavy, and Steven Gellerstein were at the New Jersey Bar Center, in New Brunswick, where they explained over 60 of last year’s decisions. Their presentation was accompanied by a comprehensive volume containing case summaries covering more than 550 of last year’s court opinions.

As in the past, this program and its accompanying material resulted from a survey of reported and unreported opinions selected by Meislik & Levavy throughout the past year. All of the summaries are available at www.meislik.com.

This annual update, sponsored by the New Jersey Institute For Continuing Legal Education, is specifically designed for all attorneys who deal with matters of business or real estate - whether their practice involves litigation or transactions.

Ira Meislik Appointed to Editorial Advisory Board
