Steven Gellerstein has been with the firm since 2001. He practices in the areas of commercial real estate and business law. His commercial real estate practice covers the acquisition, sale, and financing of real property. He has extensive experience in the closing of commercial mortgage loans in New Jersey and New York, representing borrowers and lenders. He also has extensive experience in representing clients in the closing of securitized loans in the CMBS market, having represented borrowers in closings with EuroHypo AG, Morgan Stanley, Bear Stearns, J.P. Morgan Chase, and Principal Financial, among others. Steven represents clients in deals both large and small, from the acquisition of small commercial office buildings to the conversion of a commercial office building into commercial condominiums to the acquisition of leases for over a million square feet of retail space for a national retailer. Steven has also closed many transactions that have involved the use of “like-kind” tax deferred exchanges (commonly known as “1031 exchanges”). Steven’s business practice involves the formation of business entities, the purchase and sale of interests in business entities, and the purchase and sale of business assets.

Activities
- Steven is involved in his community’s annual “Clean and Green” campaign, where residents devote one weekend per year to clean-up and beautify community parks and buildings.
- Steven in the Vice President of his synagogue’s Men’s Club. He is a founding member, and has served on the board for the past five years. In 2007, Steven and his wife were given the community service award at their synagogue’s 30th annual dinner.
